Authentic Homemade Italian Cuisine

Love family-style Italian food? A new Italian restaurant has opened in Paso Robles to enjoy homemade authentic Italian cuisine!

Located at 111 Riverside Ave., directly under the Cool Hand Luke’s Restaurant, Villante’s offers all the classic Italian favorites – lasagna, eggplant parmesan, chicken and veal salimbocca, shrimp scampi, linguine with clams, and much more.

Our family popped in on Sunday evening, after spending a couple of hours discussing wedding plans with my daughter’s wedding planner, at Rava Winery https://ravawines.com/weddings/.

Eight of us, and little granddaughter Olivia, seated ourselves at a long rectangular family size table, covered with a green gingham oilcloth. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. I did, however, feel that the walls are somewhat bare and made it less cosy than it could be. I am guessing it is still a work in progress.

A friendly server came to the table and we were offered water and non-alcoholic drinks… no wine or beer, since they are not licensed yet. They are apparently working on it though.

To start, we ordered the Caprese Salad and the Bruschetta to share. Both were generous portions with enough to share and very tasty indeed.

Hubby ordered the Eggplant Parmesan, but substituted vegetables, instead of the usual pasta side.

I ordered my one of my favorite comfort foods, Fettuccini Alfredo, as did my son, my daughter-in-law and one of my daughters. They all added chicken to theirs, but I added shrimp. I just wish there was a mushroom option. No-one seems to do it around here, and its a great add in! We all enjoyed our dishes and they were everything you would expect from a creamy, rich Alfredo sauce.

The other daughter ordered the Chicken Salimbocca and declared it yummy! Like her Dad, she ordered vegetables, instead of the pasta side. The latter is however the standard accompaniment.

The Chicken Parmesan, with its toasty crust, was declared the favorite dish of the evening. Some of the family members vowed a return visit to Villante’s, just to order that dish themselves. High praise indeed!

My future son-in-law was very happy with his choice of Meat Lasagna, and it bears mentioning that Villante’s also offers a Vegetable Lasagna option.

Somehow, we managed to squeeze in a couple of shared desserts. I tasted both the Tiramisu and Italian Apple Pie, and can wholeheartedly recommend either. Be warned though… portion sizes are enormous!

All in all a very enjoyable, casual family meal and we will definitely be returning.

Villante is open from 11am to 9pm and offers both dine in and and take out. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable and the parking is super convenient, free and away from the hustle and bustle of the Downtown Paso Robles hub.
